‘Police is your friend’, says a maxim. But you’ll soon discover the dubiosity of that phrase when you have anything to do with the officers, most especially the non elite ones.
Regrettably, it’s the same almost throughout the world. I’m definitely not saying there’re no fine officers of the law who happen to know their onions.
Neither am I saying it’s the same throughout the world. It’s only that oppression seems to be another name for police in most countries of the world.
But then, in what way are we different? I mean those of us who have ever occupied some positions which are higher than those occupied by the jetsam and flotsam of our respective societies.
Are we making breathing difficult for other men by the virtue of our hallowed positions?
Prefect, teacher, headmaster, principal, landlord, driver, managing director, commissioner, governor, minister, president, etc. I believe we could have better relationships with less opportune folks.
We just can’t afford to be seen as killer cops in our various endeavors.
