Oju Ekun Npon! – Adewale Sobowale

I’m never shy to declare the rather obvious fact that I attended a public primary school. In fact, I still remember some of the songs we used to sing in school then. I also remember some of the tales.

And the games!

Yeah, the games!!

One of them was Ekun meran!

It was all about a leopard attempting to catch a helpless ram. We had a song for this particular game,

Ekun meran; mee!
Otori bo’gbo; mee!
Otorun bo’gba; mee!
O fe mu; mee!
Ko ma le mu o; mee!

I should congratulate the owner of the skyscraping cap, a.k.a. Gbogbo E La Ma Se, for clinching the second position in the gubernatorial election.

But Ogun State people are not good o. They are in fact bad people. If they aren’t, how on earth could the anointed candidate of Mr Amosun be relegated to the second position.

Although, in any examination, a person who comes second should be saluted, depending on the number of candidates.

But then, the Yoruba usually say,
‘Agidi malaja, awo ile ife,
Awo nii gbawo nigbonwo,
Bawo o ba gbawo nigbonwo,
Awo a te,
Bawo o ba gbawo nigbonwo,
Awo a ya.’

That, is cooperation is the key to achievements.

I really don’t know what Ogun State people want again. The outgoing governor erected a pedestrian bridge at Ita Eko. One thing that’s novel about the bridge is the fact that it’s air conditioned.

That will enable the poor to have a feel of what big men enjoy. Don’t remind me of the absence of electric power. Neither should you tell me an airconditioned pedestrian bridge is not necessary in a place where the people are hungry.

The governor actually did his best for education. After educating human beings, he went on to educate goats and lizards in his model schools.

I understand he’s currently embarking on the project of setting up libraries for all public schools. And what’s more, he’s bent on giving all students in higher institutions bursaries and scholarships.

The governor is performing wonders in agriculture. Ogun State is now feeding Lagos. This is because the governor has set up farm estates state- wide and it’s the envy of all other states.

These are some of the reasons the governor wanted his anointed apostle to succeed him. He would have loved his projects to continue. This includes the uncompleted bridges that are now a permanent feature of the state.

Some people are saying, he wanted to impose someone to cover his tracks. The picture of the governor in a morose state is fake.

What arrant nonsense. For those who did not know, the governor is a very religious man. But seriously, Mr Ibikunle Amosun should be watched by the law enforcement agencies now!
