I’m sure people reading my scribblings would, by now, have become used to my hero worshiping.
Yeah!
The fantastic I people I’ve come by in this world are nothing but heroes, my own heroes!
Another person whose good deeds are a matter of interest to me is Amusan Ayodeji Abdulwasiu, a.k.a. Laibe (librarian).
The guy is an omoluabi! A person who retains his sanity amidst a whole wide world of pretence.
Maybe I’m not cut out for bureaucratic insanity. That’s probably why I have a distaste for the pretence that’s very present therein.
We met in the school where I was a housemaster once upon some troubling time. He really showed he is a good person.
Incidentally, we have the same Ebute Meta spirit. You know the spirit is abinibi which is distinct from ability.
We have this, ‘never say die’, attitude to life As far as I’m concerned, if one’s still alive, there’s no foretelling what one can achieve.
Maybe that’s what drew us together. The word, ‘impossible’, doesn’t exist in his dictionary. We did quite a few things together…but then I’ll leave that till later.
I miss the fried sweet potatoes he would always buy when he was coming from the Jumat. I also miss our usual eating places.
And of course,…
The guy is a straight forward person. He made my stay in that school worth its while.
As far as I am concerned, he’s the wisest person in that school!
And, he doesn’t lie!
PS: If he stands by you for a reasonable cause, even the Rock of Gibraltar will be put to shame.
