Most of us are house slaves! – Adewale Sobowale

A couple of weeks ago, I was gisting with some of my brothers back home in Nigeria. One thing struck me in our conversation, they were quite comfortable with the situation in Nigeria.

According to them, Mr Tinubu needs to be given time to do his restructuring of the Nigerian economy. They gave the example of Mr Filadelphia that when he was busy destroying buildings, we were pained. But people are now enjoying his destruction in terms of roads and bridges.

I needed to cite my encounter as a build up to my position on current issues in Nigeria.

I understand some wailers are crying themselves hoarse because of the new car Mr President bought with Nigeria’s money.

What they don’t know is that as an executive president, he must be seen to be executive in all his doings. Even if the nation he’s ruling over is going broke.

How much is that common limousine? Some are saying 500,000 dollars.

Yes ke, he deserves it, even when most of the people live in beggarly conditions.

I learn he will soon take delivery of a brand new presidential executive jet. Of course, he also deserves it, even when majority of the people are living in squalor.

It’s only the house slaves that are enjoying the situation of things in the country. The others, who constitute the majority, are merely waiting for the next elections when politicians will “empower” them.

Let’s pray for the president!
