Away we go;
Our sense of purpose to find;
That our homes fail us to find;
Not even relevance:
Only in our various Londons we can shout –
Eureka!
Londons in UK, Americas, France, Belgium, Germany,
Etcetera!
Some of us would have even gone to fight on the side of Russia;
You know to be abroad is to find relevance and be relevant;
Even west coastal countries like Ghana, Togo, Dahomey,
Abroad is abroad!
See our politicians;
Is relevance not in Chatham?
They go there for gari kongo;
They get oyel there;
Jobs for the masses boku there;
Up NEPA nko?
O tun ńbú’ya tíṣà;
E dey there jaburata!
Anything not made in London;
Just can’t be original;
Even our senses,
Are London-made!
We produce crude oil in Potá;
We know it’s no rocket science;
Refineries to instal here;
But seeking relevance-
We shuttle oyel to our Londons!
Coming back –
With our senses reset;
We go doing what a local wouldn’t have imagined;
Corruption!
It wouldn’t have existed in their dictionary
if it wasn’t in their history!
Like Ọ̀ṣó,
We know him much more than his mama;
We are a step ahead!
We have gone hyper-
Hyper corruption!
Hyperinflation!
Hyper poverty!
And for chosen few-
They live in hyper wealthiness!
