There’s a saying among the Yoruba that it’s a person that’s behind the Oro…
I’ve been seeing some of the gods of the Yoruba being worshipped/appeased in the open. I praise the ingenuity of the political actors in encouraging the otherwise secretive traditional worshippers to bring their acts into the open instead of staying in their covens.
After all, we are in a democracy or is it demon-crazy?
We’re in an age where rather than allow the Ifa oracle to be truly worshipped, we feed it with so much Hennessy that it goes into a state of stupor and begins misbehaving.
That’s why when the Ifa picks an Oba, it must be according to the wishes of the already-bribed kingmakers.
Ifa is not the first. History tells us that even Obatala did so a long time ago when eyes were still on the knees! That’s why the worshippers of Obatala don’t drink palm wine.
Obatala drank it and started misbehaving!
I won’t be surprised if, in the near future, ladies start to be Oro or even carry the regalia of the Egungun or Igunnu!
That is when Nigeria has been fully demon-crazed!
