Alaborun n D’Ewu! Gradually!! – Adewale Sobowale

From what we’re seeing, gradually, the anti social media bill is steadily making its progress in the Nigerian legislature. I, very much, believe that Mr President will sign it, without blinking an eyelid, when it gets to him.

Hmm…

But then, how it will turn out is my big concern. I’m not, by any means, concerned about myself.

Rather, I’m concerned about Nigerian social media users who have chosen to be enemies of the social media so that nobody would accuse them of, ‘hate speech’.

There are some who now actively involve themselves in, ‘Love Speeches’. They hope this might serve them in good stead.

Well, I hardly have any pity for them. They aren’t good students of history. I’m saying that because Buhari never thought twice before ordering to be killed by firing squad – prejudicially – three so-called drug couriers. At least one of them, Bernard Ogedengbe had not committed the offence before the decree was enacted, yet he was executed.

What I’m saying in effect is that, do we lnow, with the unholy alliance between the executive and the legislature, what the law that becomes of the bill will be?

Indeed, do we know for certain?

How’re we sure that the law won’t be backdated?

If it is, I’ll hardly be caught napping!

For those that have a past of denouncing the evil government in power in Nigeria, I beseech them to continue doing so.

I know this is a passing phase!
