I understand Ogun state government has imposed a levy of twenty five thousand naira only on senior secondary pupils in the hostels.
The government has ‘graciously’ decided to pay those of public schools. Parents of pupils in private schools are to source for the levies on their wards’ behalf.
The levy is said to be for COVID test!
Mmm…
I don’t believe that’s a well-thought-out idea.
Why must government segregate between public and private school pupils? In any case, considering the age range of the pupils, the test ought to be free.
Apart from that, what are the proprietors of private schools benefiting from Ogun state government? They are overtaxed and made to pay various levies.
I believe the proprietors are helping the government by decongesting the public schools which bill is overwhelming for the government. I think instead of the unnecessary taxation of private schools, they should enjoy tax reliefs.
Back to the COVID test, what are the doctors in public service for?
Methinks it’s high handedness to impose COVID levies on private secondary schools!
