Warming centres remain open on Sunday as Toronto gets hit by snow and freezing temperatures.

Toronto Today reports that the city is expected to see snowfall amounts between two and four centimetres and a high of -1 °C during the day, according to Environment Canada. Sunday night could then see flurries and a low of -14 C.

Due to the winter weather, the City of Toronto is keeping warming centres open at 136 Spadina Rd., 81 Elizabeth St., 12 Holmes Ave., 885 Scarborough Golf Club Rd. and 349 George St.

The cenyres are pet-friendly and offer resting spaces, meals, access to washroom facilities and referrals to emergency shelters.

“If you see someone who you feel needs support, please call 311, and outreach staff will be dispatched to offer assistance,” the city said on social media.

Warming facilities in Toronto have been open for over a week now, as December is signalling a more traditional Canadian winter.

While the snow is expected to end by Monday, Environment Canada is still expecting freezing temperatures to continue, with a low of -10 C on Monday night.
