The current spread of coronavirus is yet to recede. But there’s hope that this is but just a passing phase.
We shall overcome!
However, the virus has succeeded in allowing some breezes to blow. Breezes, because depending on which class a person falls into, the preparation is unique.
And talking of preparations, it’s as if our very own world is coming to an end.
Yeah!
When you look at the way people are ‘raiding’ the departmental stores to buy this and that, it’s as if the store owners were complicit in bringing about the deadly virus. In many cases, the stores run short of all commodities.
But then, only people who have the wherewithal can buy the commodities even if things are sold at give away prices.
That brings us to the so called developing economies of the world. Many of them are in Africa with particular reference to Nigeria.
Is it someone whose take home pay is not enough to take care of himself not to talk of his nuclear family that’ll have the means to stock things at home?
Workers are being swindled, even by the governments. Or, how do we describe a situation in which workers are not paid their salaries as at when due?
It gives a lot of companies in the private sector reasons not to pay workers who had worked like jackasses hoping to get their wages. The directors may disappear at month end.
In contrast, the ‘owners’ of the economy are living it up. Most of them don’t care about the people whom they regard as their victims.
Ironically, those of the people who could be regarded as house slaves could defend their oppressive masters with their heartbeats for the mere fact that they are getting crumbs from the rich dining tables. They refuse to understand they should be sitting at the tables.
We, surely, are the victims!
By the way has the Nigerian President addressed the nation on the issue?
