Abdoulaye Bathily, the United Nations’ special envoy for Libya has resigned.
Le Monde reports him as saying that the UN could not support the country’s political transition as its feuding leaders had put their selfish interests above finding a lasting solution.
The Senegalese said, “I tendered my resignation to the secretary-General.”
He painted a dull picture of the situation in Libya. The country has been ravaged by conflict and civil war for over a decade.
