On October 7, when Hamas attacked Israel, killed some Israelis, maimed some, and took others away as hostages; as a result of the attack, the Israeli army went about killing all Palestinians they could find in Gaza and the surrounding areas.
Among those killed were more than 15,500 children. Consequently, the United Nations is proposing to blacklist the Israeli army as being among those who harm children in conflict.
Human rights leaders have hailed the proposal.
The list will be released by June 18.
Amnesty International’s Secretary-General, Agnes Callamard, said, “It should not have taken 15,000 children killed in Gaza for Israel to be on this shameful list.”

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, 77 people have been killed and 221 were wounded in the enclave during the latest 24-hour reporting period.
Egyptian and Qatari mediators have also said they expect Hamas to submit its response to the latest ceasefire proposal, as pressure is mounting on both sides to reach a deal.
At the last count, not less than 36,731 people have been killed and 83,530 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza since October. The revised death toll in Israel from Hamas’s attacks stands at 1,139, with dozens of people still held captive in Gaza.
