So, Twitter has decided to base it’s African incursion in Ghana. It has several reasons for so doing
In the first instance, it claims Ghana is a supporter of free speech. That’s a slight on the bad image of Nigeria, the chained giant of Africa.
Freedom of speech is very much present in Nigeria. But as the late Idi Amin of Uganda was alleged to have said, ‘There is freedom of speech, but I can’t guarantee what will happen thereafter’.
It also claims Ghana has online freedom and open internet. If there’s no open internet in Nigeria, how will what we have become accustomed to, the crime perpetrated by Yahoo boys and the silliness perpetrated by some users of Facebook have become a part of us. I hope the operators of Twitter realize how much Nigeria is gaining from Yahoo, Yahoo+ and Yahoo extra.
By the way, what’s Twitter’s business in the way we practice our democracy. It says Ghana is a champion of democracy.
Tori Olorun!
Doesn’t the organization know that each of our legislators earn more than the American president? Doesn’t it know that we practice our own democracy by getting bribed with trifles by office seekers?
There is also a claim that Ghana was the 43rd must peaceful country in the 2020 Global Peace Index. Ghana was 140 spots ahead of Nigeria.
A beg leave matter for Matthias!
What Twitter is not reckoning with is Nigeria’s progress in kidnapping, armed robbery, carjacking and other crimes. These are all things that would encourage tourism. Of course, people in the advanced world would definitely love to be part of this progress.
Twitter don chop Ghanaian jollof!
