It’s no news that Donald Trump, the controversial former American President, has created a shameful record by becoming the first president to be convicted of felony crimes.
A New York jury found him guilty of all 34 charges in a scheme to illegally influence the 2016 election through a hush money payment to a porn actor who confessed they both had sex.
While the verdict was being read, the cheering of a crowd could be heard on the 15th floor where the decision was being taken.
After the verdict, Trump said, “This was a rigged, disgraceful trial. The real verdict is going to be Nov. 5 by the people. They know what happened, and everyone knows what happened here.”
The judge, Juan Merchan, has set sentencing for July 11. Shortly after the sentencing, the Republican National Conservative will take place. There, the GOP is expected to make Trump their nominee for the presidential ticket.
Meanwhile, a Canadian immigration lawyer has said that as a convicted felon, Trump may not be able to cross the border into Canada.
The lawyer, Mario Bellissimo said Trump is “criminally inadmissible” into Canada. He cannot apply to change it until five years after serving his sentence.
But if Trump is elected the United States President, exemptions could be made.
