US President Donald Trump has blamed Ukraine for failure to end the current Russo-Ukraine war which started when Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
The BBC reports that this was after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said it was a “surprise” that his country was not invited to peace talks in Saudi Arabia to end the war.
Trump said he was “disappointed” by Ukraine’s reaction and appeared to blame Ukraine for starting the war – saying the country “could have made a deal”.
His comments came after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said his country won’t accept peacekeeping forces from NATO countries in Ukraine under any peace deal after talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Saudi Arabia.
Russia and the US said they had agreed to appoint teams to start negotiating the end war’s end.
Trump said, “I hear that they’re upset about not having a seat, well, they’ve had a seat for three years and a long time before that. This could have been settled very easily.
“You should never have started it.
“I could have made a deal for Ukraine.
“That would have given them almost all of the land, everything, almost all of the land and no people would have been killed, and no city would have been demolished.”
After the meeting, Trump said he was “much more confident”.
“They were very good. Russia wants to do something. They want to stop the savage barbarianism.
“I think I have the power to end this war,” he said.
When asked about the prospects of European countries sending troops to Ukraine, he said: “If they want to do that, that’s great I’m all for it.”
European leaders held a hastily arranged meeting in Paris on Monday to discuss their response to the apparent rapprochement between Russia and the US under President Trump. However, they did not agree to a unified position.
UK Prime Minister said any Ukraine deal would require a “US backstop” to deter Russia from attacking its neighbour again and said he would consider deploying troops to Ukraine.
Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz said sending troops to Ukraine at present was “completely immature”.
Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk said he does not intend to send troops, and Italy’s Giorgia Meloni expressed doubts.
Zelensky said: “We want everything to be fair and so that nobody decides anything behind our back.
“You must cannot make decisions without Ukraine on how to end the war in Ukraine.”
Zelensky has proved to be a fool after all. The Minsk agreement between Ukraine & Russian with the knowledge of NATO members forbids Ukraine from joining NATO and allowing Russians speaking Ukrainians to do a referendum to leave Ukraine. All these agreements were jettison by Zelensky with the connivance of EU countries and Biden. You can not win a war against most dominant no 1 nuclear power RUSSIA. TRUMP knows this & He does not want to waste time and resources fighting unending war. A word is enough for the wise. Zelensky has proved to be a big Fool.
