Trump And Buhari: an analysis Adewale Sobowale

I need to state the obvious: Both men, Messrs Trump and Buhari, are not my favourite politicians.

Both men, to me, are products of the consensus of the ruling elites of their respective countries.

While the average American White had never forgiven the Democrats for bringing a black man to their White House. Is it any surprise that Trump’s slogan was Taking America Back?

Conversely, the Hausa- Fulani believe they are born to rule. Anybody who doesn’t belong to their stock and happens to be ruling Nigeria is seen by them as an impostor.

However, I want to concern myself with the activities of both men, even before swearing-in.

As for Trump, threats of a recount have not stopped him from making most of his appointments.

He has issued some policy statements, so we can say the man is good to go.

Buhari wasted precious time on inanities despite being head of state in the eighties and having contested thrice in this dispensation.

One would have expected him to hit the ground running. However, he was busy receiving visitors congratulating him when he ought to have used his time positively.

If Trump had succeeded as president, he would have earned it. Yes, he is planning meticulously.

Is it any surprise that the Nigerian presidency has warned that there may be famine in the land presently?

I still maintain that the presidency is a destination for APC and Buhari. It remains a prized gem in their hands.

They are clueless as to what to do with it!

That’s a clear difference between a country that uses its first eleven to administer its affairs and one that does not have a team at all!!
