True? – Adewale Sobowale

If it’s true that in Nigeria, the North is planning to stop the transportation of agricultural materials to the South, including livestock, the South is certainly going to benefit a lot.

In the first instance, the South will be free from the marauding herders of the North. They come and rape, kill, maim and rob.

Second, the South will go back to the not so long ago days of my childhood when it planted its agricultural products. At least, I know that the Southwest did that.

The cattle which is popular in the southwest could certainly get a boost since the cattle from the north won’t be available any more. Although, they are shorter than the ones from the north, they are reputed to have much more meat content.

In any case, there are also other types of animal proteins available in the Southwest.

I don’t know how the North, will be getting its supply of kola nuts from the Southwest. We all know, Hausas can hardly do without eating kola nuts.

I foresee the North being frustrated at the end of the day. That’s because they will have to do without the large sums of money being made from the trade. After all, the Hausa-Fulani only consume an infinitesimal fraction of the agricultural goods they produce, especially livestock.

It might lead to various Northern groups attacking Southerners in the North. I believe it might not be too early to call Southerners in the North to start thinking of going back home!
