Even to the most unfeeling person, Nigerians will know the noose of dictatorship is being tightened with the barring of Nobel laureate, professor Wole Soyinka and the activist Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana from giving their contributions at a symposium.
The police simply sealed off the venue, 46, Ibijoke Street, Oluyole Bus Stop, Oregun Lagos.
According to sources, it was due to insecurity.
If I may ask, insecurity of who?
I believe Buhari’s government suspected Soyinka and Falana would not be in a place without the issue of Sowore cropping up.
But then, if I was in Buhari’s government, I wouldn’t be as dumb as being so openly dictatorial. With the action, we could safely assume the government has formalized a drawing of first blood.
Oh well, this government is using style to hinge its gargantuan malperformance on insecurity. By the way, I would think Lagos remains one of the safest in the country. Even if it’s not, for crying out loud, which intelligence measures did the police carry out to warrant the deprivation of the right of assembly.
If Soyinka and Falana could be deprived of their rights, then who is citizen Muda?
Government has tried in one manner, it has succeeded in letting Nigerians who know the signs understand that this is a facade of democracy.
It is the beginning of autocracy in its most brutal form!
Maybe the so-called Buhari hailers will start having a rethink before the noose encircles their necks!!
