When a conscious mind looks at the world, they would see it’s all vain, meaningless, pointless, and futile.. Yet, most people could kill to be in certain posts.
I wouldn’t know of any post that is novel. I mean a post that nobody has never occupied.
We were all, ok those who had been born then, in this nation when General Yakubu Gowon held sway as military head of state in Nigeria.
Whenever he wanted to go out, let’s say for instance, to Ikeja, he would have had the road cleared for him. He lived in Dodan Barracks which was the state house then.
I understand he might not have had his bath when the road to Ikeja would have been closed. The outriders were usually a beautiful sight to behold.
Then came Murtala Mohammed for a short while. Then lack luster Obasanjo followed.
The baton was passed on to Alhaji Shehu Shagari. He was booted out by Mohammed Buhari.
Buhari was supplanted by the self styled evil genius, the Maradonic Ibrahim Babangida. Even though he didn’t want to leave, he had to.
We then had the interim half measure which amounted to nonsense. Meanwhile, we could have had a full measure in the business magnate, MKO Abiola, who, when he was suspected to have won the elections, prices of commodities started crashing.
Then we had the most brutal of them all, the goggled one! He really dealt with Nigeria and Nigerians.
His inglorious death made me conclude that God is a Nigerian.
Yes, he is!
He saw that Nigerians couldn’t handle his animalistic brutality. He took him away without any bullet being spent.
And so on!
We are all students of political history in this country. So, I’m always befuddled when people are so attached to political posts, or even any post for that matter as if they wouldn’t leave.
Ok, let’s assume they happen not to leave and the posts leave them.
All I’m saying is that it’s best one serves the people and leaves the place when the ovation is loud.
By the way, which Nigerian politician could truthfully say he has the love of the people at heart?
