The white cane(Opa Afoju) by Adewale Sobowale

You’ve taken cane from the blind;

You’re now mocking him;

Maybe your parents

never told you

about

Iroko and the child who abused it!

The grand old tree might not do anything,

at least,

not for now;

You would have forgotten your offence

before it strikes!

Rich and influential;

You make away with our commonwealth;

To cater for your wards;

You must have forgotten;

Children untrained or

ill-trained with blood-soaked money;

Seeds of corruption

Nemesis must encounter!

Pastor, you are,

Sorry,

you call yourself!

People can see neither kindness nor humility

in you!

Your school is unaffordable!

Laity built the school!

Can you deny school was built with their sweat?

Yet, they can’t afford it!

Even your senior pastors

Can hardly afford to put their wards there,

It’s only those who outsmart you

can afford places there!

We can hardly trust anyone in society,

Cumulative effect syndrome is it!

Folks abroad are getting wiser

Everyone is a thief!

A few are upright

Those ones are jittery!

Society has been criminalized;

Everyone is safety-seeking!
