The application for a new federal immigration program that allows undocumented spouses to remain in the United States as they apply for legal status was opened on Monday.
Mr Joe Biden announced the program, known as “Parole in Place,” in June through executive action. It could prevent about 500,000 immigrants from being deported.
Individuals who had lived in the US for at least ten years and were married to a US citizen before the program was announced are eligible. However, applicants can be disqualified if they have a criminal history or are threats to national security.
