The fluidity of arrest warrants! by Adewale Sobowale

That the International Criminal Court has issued warrants of arrest on two Israeli leaders and one Hamas leader is no longer news.

However, is the ruling worth the paper on which it was written?

I ask this question with all seriousness. Lawyers usually use relevant judgements as precedents to support their cases.

I want to use Vladimir Putin’s case. He got a similar warrant of arrest from the same ICC. He has been travelling around the world as if it were his oyster.

He was issued a warrant of arrest on March 17, 2023, and has been globe-trotting since then.

He has visited many countries. But I’m only concerned about ICC member states here.

He visited Kyrgyzstan, China, Mongolia, and China again, but nothing happened.

Is the ICC just for formality?

Who dares try to arrest Netanyahu, Gallant or Deif?

The UN could do better in finding a solution to the war!

A two-state solution would have been better. But both Israel and Palestine should respect each other as sovereign states.

I’m aware of the fact this will be the first time that the ICC will indict a leader and regime backed by the West, but this is more of a problem. Let’s assume Hamas’ Deif is the first to be arrested. Won’t the world be shouting discrimination?

Let’s wait to see if the arrests will be carried out!
