Russia holds presidential election: 15-17 March!

Russia is having its presidential election from March 15 to 17.

France 24 reports that three others are contesting for Moscow’s top seat in addition to the incumbent, Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile, anti-war candidates have been barred from running.

The three candidates are Leonid Slutsky, Nikolai Kharitonov and Vladislav Davankov. However, they pose little of a challenge to Putin.

The election is just a formality. Putin, who has been in power for nearly a quarter-century, will rule for another six years.

The polls opened in the Kamchatka Peninsula Region on Friday. The voting exercise will span 11 time zones.
