Ori Yeye N’Mogun! – Adewale Sobowale

The ever-philosophical Yoruba have a saying, ‘Ori yeye ni mogun, t’aise lo po’.

This roughly translates to, ‘so many are punished unjustly’.

I congratulate Zainab Aliyu immensely on having an influential father. If her father had not been among society’s formidable wheeler dealers, she would most probably have ended up on death row in Saudi Arabia.

Does it mean the majority of those who had ended up on several Arab countries’ death rows and ultimately having their lives snuffed out of them were innocent?

If that had been the case, is it not enough reason to give up on the country of their birth?

And think that on the most ordinary days, there are many more security men in our airports than actual travellers!

They are always there: the army, air force, navy, police, and even civil defence. So, what’s their business in the airports if not to make sure the people who pay their salaries are treated with the dignity they deserve?

In Canada, when there was flooding in Quebec, men of the armed forces were deployed there to help the people in various ways.

The difference is pronounced in Nigeria!

By the way, do we have CCTVs in our airports? I mean functioning ones.

While congratulating Zainab once again, I sympathize with the families of those unfortunate souls who ended up as sacrificial lambs because of our well-known inefficiency!
