Things now differ in Nigeria from when T.M. Aluko wrote his “One man, one matchet” which was published way back in 1964.
“One man, one matchet
One woman, one stick
One child, one stone.”
Mr Aluko, we’re sorry sir. We regret the fact that we’re disappointing you.
We’re no longer in the “stone” age!
We’ve certainly moved up.
At the rate we’re going, there’ll be a declarant in every family. One for each workplace. One for each iledi, church and mosque.
Everybody would love to be Presido. Ibi owó run sí nìyén!
Abi, who wouldn’t love to be catered for by the commonwealth?
But then, the pertinent question reasonable people should be asking is what motives do these people have?
Selfishness?
Selflessness?
While pondering over the question, let whoever is interested declare.
It’s their constitutional right to do so.
Ìkan rèé má gbẹ̀hin má ṣe ǹṣó…
Las las, the serious ones with footsoldiers will have to bargain with those who hardly have a chance.
Adẹ́tẹ̀ ò lè fún wàrà, ó lè wàrà nù!
What a brilliant idea!
