In one of my posts, I expressed my disappointment at Lagosians who I used to believe were so cosmopolitan that the state being the centre of excellence, they too would have been excellent in their tastes.
I regret to say that since the situation is yet to change, I.still remain disappointed.
I believe Lagos State should rise above tribal sentiments in choosing a governor. I don’t even think it’s appropriate for Lagosians to be sinking into the low of ethnic profiling.
Now, let’s look at someone whose father is a Lagosian and whose mother was born elsewhere, elsewhere might be anywhere outside Lagos, and people say he’s not good enough to rule Lagos State.
I don’t believe this is right. It goes against the most common of senses. But then, as we were taught in elementary school, common sense is not for every Dick and Harry.
By the way, I’m not persuading people not to vote according to their conscience, but then could we have forgotten the #EndSars protest in Lekki, Lagos?
Was the incumbent not dilly-dallying and lollygagging? Has the report of the tribunal on the riots been fully implemented?
Should the lives of those who died during the protest be lost in
vain?
Are elections not for the assessment of where we are and who brought us to that stage?
There’s no doubt about the fact that Lagos is the very soul of Nigeria, people should choose wisely.
As for the projects the incumbent is parading, Lagos State, by virtue of its being the commercial hub of Nigeria, has always had more than enough financial strength.
Again, Lagos State has always had good administrators. I don’t see any big deal in what the incumbent has done.
