Once upon a – not too long ago – time, one olori ebi had to retire.
You know life is just like the army barracks. Soldiers go and soldiers come, but the barracks remain!
Even before the predecessor left office, the successor’s name had been announced.
Now, there were so many anti-people things that were done by the man leaving office. However, people consoled themselves with the fact that his successor was actually part of them.
He had been with them and he knew their sufferings. They felt he had no choice but to identify with them.
When our man got into office, there was a period of honeymoon during which our guy was studying the people.
In fact, people, being so gullible, felt he was the best thing to happen since sliced bread. They were partying, wining and dining.
Alas, the honeymoon was only to last for a very brief period of time.
You know there’s no way a person’s character will forsake him. The man started choosing to make obvious mistakes.
At the end of the day, the man turned out worse than his predecessor.
I just felt I should warn our people who have been rejoicing since yesterday’s change of some elected governors in Nigeria.
Although most of them have made sensible addresses, how are we sure they’ll abide with what they read yesterday.
We shouldn’t be carried away. Let’s all keep the addresses they read yesterday and be telling them if they should ‘willingly forget’ some of the goodies they had promised us.
If I had the opportunity, there would have been no celebration!
No, not yet!!
It’s after they might have successfully completed their tenures and we see that they have satisfied us that we should be partying.
Ire o!
