Ogede Nbaje! – Adewale Sobowale

So, killings are now the order of the day in Nigeria.

I really wonder how we got to this state of things in Nigerian society. In the Nigeria of my childhood, criminality was scorned.

There’s no society that’s crime-free, but the frequency of crimes in Nigeria is alarming. Those involving human lives are simply pathetic.

This is not a problem of the leaders. It’s a problem with the led. Why is it that in our society, we hardly value hard work again?

Our concern is just to have money.

Where the money comes from hardly matters to us. Our people even make a joke that I consider to be sadistic
If a junior is rich, we don’t think twice before declaring him as a senior. We would say he has used the money to become an elder.

Our society has become a rot. We’ve got to be watching our backs anywhere we go.

Our nation has not always been like this. In those not-too-far-away days, we respected hard work. We accepted the fact that hard work pays off. We had the ability to determine if some rich people got their wealth in legit ways.

But then it’s not hard if we could ask questions. But then, we simply do not.

It will be good if we could go back to our old ways.
