Every Nigerian who’s not from Anambra State should please join me in congratulating the Anambra people for the relatively peaceful conclusion of last Saturday’s gubernatorial election. I say relatively because, petty skirmishes are common occurrences in Nigerian elections.
Prior to the elections, there had been threats from the Independent People’s Organisation of Biafra that the election will not hold. Meanwhile, the military was ready with its python dance operation.
However, two weeks to the election, IPOB said it didn’t say the election would not hold, but that its members would not take part in the election.
All the same, not only was the military at alert, other security organisations were also ready.
In fact, most peaceful Nigerians were praying that the situation should not get out hand. God indeed proved that he hears prayers, if only we can go to Him.
I congratulate the great people of Anambra State, the security agencies, the INEC and indeed, the federal government.
Let’s hope other elections will be much more peaceful.
