I believe I am the only one who read today’s papers. OK, maybe after I finished reading the news of Kogi state civil servants receiving a lifeline from senators, that particular aspect was removed from the papers.
By the way, what’s wrong with senators giving common rice to the civil servants? They are just letting them feel a taste of the pudding they will get at Christmas.
I didn’t even know the salary arrears for the civil servants are up to twenty two months. That’s a year plus ten months.
I believe the government is saving the money for them so that when they eventually collect it they’re going to invest the money in worthy ventures.
Let’s all thank the state governor for reviving the ajo or esusu system. He has even modernised it. Europeans can not boast about their own banking system again.
Before the Oyinbo brought their own banking system we had traditional ways of keeping money. That’s what the state governor has revived.
I very much hope both the executive and the legislature of the state are also observing the twenty two months of non payment.
I’m not sure the governor has received any money from Abuja to pay civil servants’ salaries. If he has, he must be keeping it in the Central Bank for collection by the states’ civil servants in December.
By the way, did the governor aspire for the gubernatorial seat? So, nobody can blame him for misrule.
