Several countries are issuing travel advisories and warnings to their nationals amid far-right riots across the UK.
The United Arab Emirates, Kenya and India have joined Nigeria, Malaysia, Australia, and Indonesia in informing their nationals about the goings on in the UK.
TRT World reports that the Kenya High Commission in London is closely monitoring the “social unrest” developing in several UK cities.
“The High Commission wishes to encourage Kenyans living in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland to remain vigilant of their movement and follow guidance provided by the local authorities,” it said.
It also encouraged Kenyans in the UK to register with its website.
India has also issued an advisory to its nationals travelling to the UK amid riots and protests, asking them to stay vigilant and exercise due caution following violent anti-immigration demonstrations and rioting.
The High Commission of India in London said, “It is advisable to follow local news and advisories issued by local security agencies and to avoid areas where protests are underway.”
The UAE also urged its nationals to exercise caution regarding security issues.
Nigeria, Malaysia, Australia, and Indonesia had previously warned against UK travel amid riots.
On its part, the British government has increased its prison capacity to help tackle the violent, week-long anti-immigration riots. Upheavals have erupted across several towns and cities after the murder of three girls in Southport after misinformation on social media identified the suspect as a Muslim migrant.
The Justice Department is being forced to release some prisoners early while battling a jail overcrowding crisis. It said nearly 600 prison places had been secured to accommodate those engaged in violence.
About 400 people have been arrested so far.
Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood said, “My message to anyone who chooses to take part in this violence and thuggery is simple: the police, courts and prisons stand ready, and you will face the consequences of your appalling acts.”
