Misplaced Priority! – Adewale Sobowale

I understand a group of prayer people have called out for its members to have a prayer session for Ebora Owu!

I’m not surprised simply for the fact that I know Nigerians. I know money must have exchanged hands for the prayer warriors to concentrate on one individual.

Ninu gbogbo eyi ta nso yi!

So, to their own understanding, it’s only Obasanjo that’s worth praying for. They are magnanimous in that they are not even praying for themselves.

For the man who has conveniently forgotten to leave his wife some chop money, it’s the fault of OBJ!
For a wife whose husband is formulating, na OBJ!
For a student that fails in school, the problem is OBJ!
If a gynecologist forgets some cotton wool in the stomach of a pregnant woman, it’s OBJ!
Even if a worker forgets his transport fare at home, it’s OBJ!

If Obasanjo had been my kind of person, I would have been praying to be like him. But then, the simple fact is that I really do not like him and his politics.

If the so called prayer warriors had had some elements of nationalism in them, they would have known that instead of devoting their prayers to a spent force like OBJ, their prayers would have been better on the coming generation of Nigerians. There’s no use to even waste their prayers on us, the present generation.

We have chosen our terrible lot which is to pick the crumbs from the tables of our oppressors.

I will end this by giving a short narrative. It happened in Abeokuta. A man bought some snacks and he was sharing it with another. As long as the snacks lasted, whatever the buyer said was agreed to by the consumer.

However, when the snacks finished, the buyer made a point and to his utmost surprise, the consumer disagreed with his point.

When he asked, the consumer pointed out that the snacks had finished.

Whatever The amount that had been given to the prayer warriors would soon finish. The Yoruba will say, money that is countable will soon be spent!
