Pope Francis has made a plea for migrant workers to be paid fairly.
TUKO reports that he made the plea on Thursday when he visited the affluent city-state of Singapore, the last stop of his marathon Asia Pacific tour.
In an address to local political orders, civil rights groups, and dignitaries, he said “special attention” should be paid to “protecting the dignity of migrant workers.”
He said, “These workers contribute a great deal to society and should be guaranteed a fair wage.”
Most of the estimated 170 million migrant workers live in Europe, Central Asia and the Americas.
However, cheap labour has been instrumental in rapidly developing gleaming metropolises like Dubai, Doha and Singapore.
