Few books have multiple importance. The holy bible is one of them. It is a book of spiritual, historic and religious values amongst others. I deliberately mentioned religious and spiritual because it is possible for one to be religious without being spiritual.
The story of Mephibosheth is recorded in the second book of Samuel chapter nine. There it is said that when Mephibosheth was five years old and after Jonathan and Saul had died in the battle of Mount Gilboa, Mephibosheth’s nurse took him and fled in panic.
Mephibosheth was Jonathan’s son!
In the course of having to flee from perceived danger, the child was injured. He became unable to walk.
Years later,after his accession to the kingship of the unified monarchy of Israel, king David was looking for someone in the house of Saul to whom he will show the kindness of God.
Mephibosheth was brought to him. David restored Snail’s inheritance to him and permitted him to live within his palace in Jersey.
