I was at a party sometime ago. The celebrators then asked me to be the emergency MC because the person they had asked to be master of ceremonies, for one reason or the other, couldn’t make it.
Mmm..
If I had been told before hand, of course. I would have dotted my ‘i’s and crossed my ‘t’s. But being an impromptu MC for me, a bloody stammerer, was certainly a different ball game.
Anyway, I fumbled and wobbled and I wasn’t disgraced.
That incident set me thinking about the rulers we’ve been having in Nigeria. Save for two military heads of state, none of them had any plans for Nigeria. Indeed, they were reluctant rulers. That’s possibly why in spite of all the milk and honey, rather than moving forward, the country is a case study in backward motion.
The present one actually wanted to prove a point. If I were in his shoes, now that he has proved his point in becoming President, I would have resigned honorably.
A kuku’joye san se radarada!
Ironically, the military rulers that had plans for Nigeria, with the benefit of hindsight, were only interested in enriching themselves and their cronies.
Beeni, afefe ti fe, ati ri furo adie!
That’s why I would always insist we elect credible people who are our true representatives!
