Even though I know that universities are yet to be enough in Nigeria, at the same time, I don’t believe it’s in Ogun state’s interest to have another state government owned university.
Ogun state has the highest number of universities in the country. Out of these, two are owned by the state government. I beg to be corrected, the state government owned universities fall into the bracket of the poorly managed ones.
How much are the allocations that go into these universities?
I tend to think universities should be in a position to attract qualified teaching and non teaching staff from anywhere in the world. To do this costs money.
A lot of money.
Let’s even agree that the state has enough cash to fund three universities. I believe it’s not the best to site another university in Ogun Central. That part of the state already has a federal university.
It would have been worthwhile to site the university in Ogun West!!!
