There’re several Yoruba sayings which portray respect. Respect could be to an elderly person, a community, a greater nation, and so on.
One of them is that no matter how ugly a situation might be, a father would not take his problem to his late child.
Another is that an elderly person doesn’t misbehave.
Yet another is the fact that a father had possessed the instrument of procreation before the son.
Why am I going into this?
I had thought the Buhari regime in Nigeria couldn’t surprise me anymore with its maladministration.
I was in for a shocker when I heard on a TV program that Nigerians living close to Niger Republic would rather call on Nigerien forces to save them from bandits. That’s because whenever they call on their Nigerian counterparts, they will be late in going.
That’s if they care to go!
Isn’t it great that Nigeria is headed by a retired infantry general?
