It’s Finished! – Adewale Sobowale

When Christ made one of his last sayings on the cross and said, ‘It is finished’, he couldn’t have been referring to Nigeria. However, when we really look at the Nigeria of today, it’s like some negative forces are working towards the end of Nigeria.

There’s hardly any day that something negative won’t be done by people who should know better. They ought to have known better because they are in positions of authority.

But no, they would rather be causing confusion. Or how else can one interpret the idiotic statement of the dishonorable minister of health that not every doctor should practise.

For the avoidance of any doubt, he was talking in relation to medical doctors. According to him, some should end up as farmers, others should end up as tailors.

And to think that this man is not only a doctor, he was once the provost of the college of medicine and he eventually became a vice chancellor of Nigeria’s premier university.

It leaves a very sour taste in the mouth. But I’m not surprised. I’ve always said that when one is eating, they should be careful not to eat their sense of reasoning.

Ah!

While I’m not against any profession, let’s ask our minister why he didn’t go and farm with his MBBS. Okay, I hope any child of his that reads medicine would end up as a tailor.

What is the doctor to patient ratio in Nigeria? How come we are only training doctors and even nurses for the Western world.

Excuse me sir, what you said deserves an ‘ifoti oloyi’!
