For the first time since the signing of a ceasefire on Beirut with Hezbollah, Israel has conducted an airstrike on the Lebanese capital.
The Guardian reports that huge smoke plumes rose from the site of the attack as residents reported hearing the explosion from the mountains surrounding the city.
The strike threatens to abort the fragile truce between Hezbollah and Israel. A ceasefire was signed on 27 November last year.
Before the bombing, Israel’s military issued an evacuation order and warned it would attack a building in Daniel. The warning was followed by two drone attacks.
An Israeli military spokesperson later said the airstrikes targeted a truck and Hezbollah drone storage facility.
