Ijo’Ya! – Adewale Sobowale

I hear our people are already preparing for the ‘re-enthronement’ ceremonies of Mr Buhari and other gominas.

To show that we couldn’t be happier, ko r’ankara k’oje semo is what I hear will happen. This is a situation where people are actually going to wear aso ebi, uniform, for the occasions.

It’s a very good thing to do!

It’s even proper to hire musicians representing various genres of music to entertain our people. The Yoruba have a saying that a person that God has not made happy that’s taking a lot of sugar is only making a fool of himself.

I don’t think that’s quite right as far as the people in relationship to this government’s performance is concerned.

The government is making people happy!

In fact, the government is happiness personified!!

There’s a Yoruba song that begins with,

‘Melo, melo la fe so?’

Is it the proposal to give cowards, sorry, cowherds a chicken change of one hundred billion naira?

The government is doing it to save our people from kidnappings!

Ah tor!

What about electricity, don’t you have light in your house?

That man, Fela, that sang about water and light and people were buying his records because basic things were not available was a lucky man o. He’s lucky to be dead. That’s because if he was alive, he’ll not get anything sold.

That’s because all those things are in excess now!

Even when we talk of commodities, they are so cheap now that we’re even giving other countries.

When you look at our road network, it’s as if someone is in heaven. The roads are so clean that even the Western countries are begging for our master plan.

Housing nko?

A Christian church song starts with, jaburata!

That’s the true situation of housing in Nigeria now. Houses are so available that even goats and cows live in houses.

When they were talking of next level, I didn’t believe them. But now, I’m an advocate of next level.

Before I forget, the government has continued distributing raw cash to market women and artisans to the level that some office workers are now blaming themselves for being in the alakowe class.

These and other things are those things the government has done to warrant applause.

Some are even calling for a change in the Nigerian constitution to make Mr Buhari serve till kingdom come!

Ati nse gbogbo e!

I wouldn’t know why some Yoruba people who’re opposing this government are wont to rebuke the supporters and say they are,

Njoing ijo’ya!
Njoing ijo esin!!
