Mr Buhari’s speech could at the very best be described as being full of hot air!
Personally, I see the sixty-paragraph address as a waste of precious time. It doesn’t have anything that’s substantially new.
In the fourth paragraph, the president even says, ‘As your democratically elected leaders,…’ Must that fact be emphasized at these turbulent times if the incumbent feels he’s the rightful occupant of the post?
What does he mean by saying he’s expanding the current social register from 2.6 million to 3.6 million households? The term ‘social register’ encompasses a list of the elites in a particular society. By the way, the number of households in Lagos state alone is more than 3.6 million.
Even at that, does it lie within the powers of government to determine the social register?
So, the looting, robbery and banditry hasn’t come to his notice. He’s yet to be aware of the suffering of the masses!
Ah tor!!
Nigeria we hail thee!!!
