Haunting Past! – Adewale Sobowale

History is the study of past events, particularly in human affairs. It’s also described as the whole series of past events connected with someone or something!

Hmmm…

Little wonder, our dealers, sorry leaders are trying their best to put History as a subject in our school syllabus.

At least, we must read about all that happened in 1966, during the two defining coups d’etat!

We need to know the history behind the Nigerian civil war. We have to know who did what.

Some people are claiming, rather unfairly, that Bakassi Peninsula was traded off by General Yakubu Gowon to the Republic of Cameroon.

Some are saying that, the late Brigadier Victor Banjo was actually sabotaged.

Some are saying OBJ was traitorous because he turned Operation Feed the Nation to Obasanjo Farms Nigeria, both with the same acronym.

Some say it was this same General Buhari when he came as military head of state that committed a lot of blunders, including forcing the British government to institute a visa regime for Nigerians. They even say it happened when they planned to kidnap late Umaru Dikko.

Some are even saying IBB used people as fronts to push drugs. Can you imagine that. They are even quick to cite the name of a certain Gloria Okon.

Some people even say the citizenry is made up of mumus. They say if not so, Nigeria wouldn’t have been in this sorry state.

But then, someone says history is not fully told until the slaves start writing their own history!
