Kidnap fears gripped people as a long-distance bus travelling to Uganda was attacked by gunmen in South Sudan.
BBC reports that the bus was attacked on a main road in Juba, leaving at least one person dead and several others feared kidnapped, according to the army.
Images from the scene showed flames engulfing the bus’s interior and black smoke rising into the sky.
Although a peace deal has been signed to end the civil war in South Sudan, insecurity still remains in many parts of the country.
Major General Lul Ruai Koang, spokesperson of the army, said that one Ugandan man had been killed and eight wounded. He added that seven others were missing. The missing people were thought to have been abducted.
The General accused a rebel group, the National Salvation Front of being behind the attack.
