Father Kukah’s Homily! – Adewale Sobowale

Maybe there was something I failed to read in Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah’s address at the funeral mass of 18-year old Micheal Nnadi who was killed by kidnappers.

By the way, Michael was an orphan who was survived by a doting grandmother. He chose to be a Catholic reverend father and he was yet to complete a year in the seminary before he was kidnapped by evil – inspired sub-humans.

I typed the first paragraph because it has come to my notice that certain folks have been going about criticizing Father Kukah’s homily.

In the first instance, I don’t subscribe to the view that anyone, no matter how highly placed, has the right to dictate to mourners how they would react when theirs are unnecessarily killed.

My stance is even much more pertinent when people or institutions, which should protect them, are involved through their acts of laxity.

I would have scored Father Kukah 200 out of 100 for his ability to speak the truth to power, while at the same time pleading with Christians to do what The Saviour would have done.

He did not fail to even pray for the conversion of the killers.

I’ll not be surprised if the kulikuli man who is the media person thinks otherwise. We know he’s trying to be relevant so that he might continue eating fresh fish instead of kulikuli!
