Some dozens of asylum seekers from Vietnam will be sent home on Wednesday from the UK.
BBC reports that they should have been sent to Rwanda, but since the Labour government scrapped the Rwanda plan, it will use the plane intended to remove people to Rwanda to send around fifty-five people to Vietnam instead.
However, they are being removed under a returns agreement rather than deported to a third country. This will be the first time a flight has returned failed asylum seekers to the country since 2021.
The people due to be removed are likely to have been in the system for some time, well before Labour took power.
