A court in Harare has fined an Egyptian national $200 for contravening the country’s immigration act.
Magistrate Ruth Moyo found Ahmed Yehia guilty of staying in the country with an expired visa. The accused entered through Joshua Nqabuko Nkomo International Airport on April 28, 2024, and was issued a 30-day visa.
The visa expired on May 27, 2024.
After the visa expiration, Yehia needed to regularize his stay in the country.
He was arrested on May 30, 2024, by immigration officials and taken to Maruta Business Centre in Harare for interrogation.
After paying the fine, he would be deported.
