Denver may house pregnant migrants and children!

The city of Denver may spend a whooping amount of $3.2 million on temporary housing for migrants who are single parents, pregnant women, or families with young children looking to establish a long-term residence in the city.

Just the News reports that The Homelessness Committee for Denver is requeting additional funding to temporarily house about 200 migrants. The city is set to approve the contract with the Catholic Charities and Community Services of the Archdiocese of Denver.

Denver first experienced an influx of migrants in December 2022. Several emergency shelters were opened for the newcomers throughout the city.

The contract which is between March 23, 2024 and December 31, 2024 will offer additional resources for the Mullen Home site, including temporary family housing, site operations and management, staffing, supplies, daily operations, and providing food for 200 individuals and babies experiencing homelessness.

The city has spent over $63 million on more than 40,000 newcomers as of April 1.
