A friend sent a video to me some twenty four hours ago on whatsapp. That video made me ask the question,
Are we OK?
In the video, five boys are caught after they have burgled a shop. When I say they are boys, well, they are boys. But permit me to say that they just got out of their diapers.
The eldest of them is not beyond thirteen years old!
According to eye witnesses, they allegedly committed the offence, somewhere
in Abeokuta, between eleven pm and twelve midnight. Not only that, they actually bore a hole in the ceiling outside the shop to gain access. The boys too said they committed the crime.
Some questions should come into reasonable people’s minds. Some of those questions are, Do those boys have parents? If so, where were their parents? Does that area enjoy the services of watchmen? If so, where were the watchmen?
And so on,…….
We are no longer in a normal society. If those kids could oprerate in so sophisticated a manner, then we are done for.
Those people who have been warning that those children whom, we have refused to educate through our greed, will sooner than later become problems for our over pampered scions, are very obviously saying nothing but the truth.
Those children should be in school. However, we are so greedy that once our own wards are educated, we couldn’t care less about the others.
Until we go back to the drawing board, and fashion out a good policy for the masses, the duo of the executed robbers, Dr Isola Oyenusi and Babatunde Folorunso will be laughing in their unmarked graves with pleasure that they have worthy successors.
