A poll has indicated that China is more popular than the United States of America in Africa.
Nation reports that Beijing’s endorsement among Africans rose to 58 percent in 2023 from 52 percent in 2022. In contrast, Washington’s popularity fell from 59 present in 2022 to 56 percent in 2023.
China’s diplomatic approach to Africa is significantly different from the West’s. China’s foreign policy emphasizes respect for national sovereignty and non interference in domestic affairs, and resonates with African countries.
Chiona presents itself as a partner and it has cultivated strong diplomatic ties with many African nations. Furthermore, China’s diplomatic outreach is characterized by high-level visits, economic summits and cultural exchanges which has reinforced a perception of China as a reliable ally committed to mutual cooperation.
The US links its assistance and investment to African countries to political conditions like human rights and political standards. But China only focuses on economic cooperation. The latters approach allows African governments and citizens the opportunity to pursue development while retaining their political systems.
China also offers language courses, cultural exchange and media initiatives which have proliferated across the continent, fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture.
