Children’s Day In Nigeria! – Adewale Sobowale

Today is Children’s Day in Nigeria!

I would suggest there should be no March Past to observe the day.

The children should simply learn from the idiocy and stupidity being displayed by us.

And by Jove, they’ll surely learn a lot.

Instead of the “cowboy” movies we used to watch when I was a kid, not too long ago, we now have real people doing their stuff. Kidnapping, maiming, raping, and even killing.

Wouldn’t that be a good thing for our kids to learn from?

When I was younger, members of political parties were influential in the voting of candidates who would represent them. They financed the political parties through their membership fees.

But now, some contractors have hijacked the process. They finance the parties and empower the constituents.

I believe that’s great!

Instead of waiting till eternity to get the dividends of democracy, we, the adults, are getting them now.

Some may get a pair of flip flops, a sachet of kulikuli and gari, and those who are lucky could even get 10k.

All for four years?

Isn’t that great?

And the killings….

Our children are watching us. We are unconsciously preparing for our incredible old age.

Alangba to duro lori Esu, toun t’Esu lelejo!
